Mario Ingo-Soos has been serving as Counselor for environmental and
energy policy issues at the German Embassy in Washington since July
2006. In that role, he is responsible for analysis and evaluation of
U.S. climate and energy policy and communication of German climate and
energy policy in the U.S. Mr. Soos has been with the German Foreign
Office since 1989. Prior to coming to Washington he served as head of
unit for regional cooperation in Southeast Europe at the German Foreign
Office in Berlin. Other assignments include tours as Deputy Chief of
Mission at the German Embassy in Nicosia, Cyprus (2000-2003) and
assignments at the German Embassies in Zagreb, Croatia, and Bogota,
Colombia. He has also served twice in the Economic Affairs Division of
the German Foreign Office, dealing with development cooperation and
international nuclear and space cooperation. Before entering the
Foreign Service, Mr. Soos worked as in-house counsel at a private firm.
