The Energy Conversation Recognizes...

The Energy Conversation Award is given to an individual or individuals who show profound excellence in leadership - showing the way to work within the system to help make change for the common good along The Energy Conversation mandate of "Listen, Learn, Connect, Share, Collaborate".

This month the award winners are The USDA Energy Matrix Team and Dr. Alex Zhivov of the US Army.

Politico: Energy Conversation a 'catalyst' for change

In an article titled Veterans join front lines of climate fight, Politico praises The Energy Conversation for bringing important political and military attention to issues of energy and climate change. The article, by Jen Dimascio, reviews The Energy Conversation's humble beginnings nearly five years ago and describes how the conversations have become a vital voice for raising awareness and facilitating inter-departmental coordination. 37 Energy Conversations Since 2006!

November 16th marked the 37th Energy Conversation in the DC area since March 2006, several with over 200 attendees. 1000s of people from across the federal government, NGOs, industry, academia and the media, have listened, learned, connected, shared and collaborated in this inter-discipinary forum.

 "I sat down last night preparing for 3+ hours of panel and PowerPoint presentations. While this came to fruition, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the diversity of my colleagues at the dinner table. Although I enjoy a good lecture, having it commentated by a nuclear physicist, energy consultant, and Senate staffer added immensely to my experience.

Solar Decathlon

Update

Team Germany has won the 2009 Solar Decathlon. I was lucky enough to tour some of the homes, which were all incredibly impressive. The homes are not just for show; Team Boston's house, called Curio, has been purchased by the Housing Assistance Corporation of Cape Cod, which plans to use the model to jump start the creation of an energy efficient affordable housing community.

Congressman Bartlett on Peak Oil

This is a presentation entitled "Peak Oil: Implications for U.S. Economic and National Security" given by Congressman Roscoe Bartlett during an MIT Alumni Luncheon on Sept 10, 2009.
